Phone conferencing via Webex

Joining a Webex meeting via phone

1. Call one of the toll numbers* (1-415-655-0001 US Toll or one of the other Global call-in numbers) listed in the "Join by phone" section of the Webex meeting invitation email you received.

2. When prompted, enter the meeting number/access code from the invitation, followed by #. When prompted for your Attendee ID number, press #.

3. If the host has already started the meeting, you will be automatically joined. If the host hasn't started the meeting yet, you will be placed on hold until the meeting is started.

Starting/Hosting a scheduled Webex meeting via phone

The host must schedule the call conference meeting for the date and time desired and invite all required participants. The host is responsible for starting the call conference by calling one of the toll numbers* (1-415-655-0001 US Toll or one of the other Global call-in numbers) and entering the meeting number/access code.

Initial configuration of Audio and Video Settings

Before you start a meeting by phone, you need to verify your Webex Audio and Video configuration by following the steps below.

1. Go to msstate.webex.com, then sign in with your netid@msstate.edu email address and NetPassword. Authenticate with Duo, if prompted.

2. Click Preferences, then click the Audio and Video tab.

3. Verify the following:

  • Make sure Webex Audio is set as the default in the Audio connection type dropdown.
  • Enter your phone number in the Work phone number and/or Mobile phone fields. This is the number Webex uses to verify your account when calling in.
  • Set your host and audio PINs, as desired, and make a note of them (the host PIN comes set by default; you may use that PIN if you don't want to change it).

Calling in to start the meeting as host

1. Call one of the toll numbers* (1-415-655-0001 US Toll or one of the other Global call-in numbers) listed in the "Join by phone" section of the Webex meeting invitation email you received.

2. When prompted, enter the meeting number/access code from the invitation, followed by #.

3. When prompted, enter your host PIN, followed by #.

If you're calling from a phone that doesn't match the phone number that is saved in your Webex Audio and Video preferences, you're prompted to enter the saved phone number and press #. Then, you can enter your host PIN and press # to start the meeting.

*Note: If you use a land line phone, then you may incur cost depending on your home land line plan. These are US Toll numbers, not Toll Free numbers.
