As Mississippi State University-Meridian opens the doors to its new Interprofessional Simulation Center, ITS-Meridian is proud to stand behind the scenes, supporting the technology that powers this innovative learning environment for future nurses, physician assistants, and social workers.
Opened in 2024, the 7,715-square-foot facility is a game-changer for hands-on education, giving students access to realistic, high-pressure healthcare scenarios that prepare them for the clinical world. But with new facilities comes a host of new technologies—and for our ITS team, that meant diving headfirst into unfamiliar systems and tools to ensure a seamless experience for students and faculty.
Unlike traditional classrooms, the Simulation Center integrates advanced medical simulation technologies that replicate clinical environments down to the smallest detail. These include high-fidelity manikins capable of mimicking real patient responses, from heartbeats and lung sounds to vital signs and even childbirth. Supporting these complex systems required our team to rapidly learn and adapt to a new category of devices, software, and maintenance procedures.
Bringing the Simulation Center to life was not a solo effort. This was a true collaboration involving multiple ITS teams across both the Meridian and Starkville campuses. From classroom technology specialists and desktop support to networking, telecom, AV services, and systems teams, nearly every corner of ITS played a role in making the center a success.
This collaboration ensured a smooth rollout—from designing infrastructure and coordinating equipment installation to testing system integrations and providing hands-on support during the center's first live training sessions.
