Duo Mobile 4.0 Release

 

A new look for Duo Mobile is coming soon! In the next few days, Duo plans to release a redesigned version (4.0) of the Duo Mobile app to iOS and Android users.


The rolling release is scheduled for:

iOS devices: October 11-18, 2021

Android users: October 11-15, 2021

Version 4.0 will be released to users through an app update from either the Apple App Store or the Google Play Store. The minimum supported OS requirements will be iOS 13 and Android 8.


Action required:

There is no action required on the part of students, faculty, or staff. Users will still be able to authenticate using the Push and Passcode options like they do today. Only the look and feel of the app is updating.

 

What is changing?

The redesigned Duo Mobile is designed to make your log in experience better by:

  • Updating the position of the Approve / Deny buttons so that Approve is on the right, a more natural location.
  • Improving the accessibility of the app, including adding a landscape view, variable font sizes, and improved color contrast.
  • Making it easier to find and manage your accounts with a simpler interface.

What is not changing?

The core functionality of Duo Mobile is not changing. You will continue to be able to:

  • Receive a Duo Push.
  • Use passcodes.
  • Add, edit, reorder, and remove accounts.
  • Use dark mode.
  • And anything else you can do in the current version of the app.

 

When the redesigned Duo Mobile launches, will I need to do anything?

It depends. If you have enabled automatic app updates on your device, Duo Mobile will update automatically. You can also manually update Duo Mobile from the Apple App Store or the Google Play Store.

 

Will I need to restore my MSU account once Duo Mobile is updated?

No. Your MSU account and any other accounts you've added to the app should be automatically present in Duo Mobile after the update. You do not need to re-add anything.

Remember that you can always generate a passcode through the 2fa.msstate.edu/passcode website to log in to your MSU account even if your normal two-factor device is not working.
