Requesting an MSU Google Drive

Canvas has the ability to integrate with Google Apps making it easier for instructors to  content share and collaborate with students directly within Canvas. The integration also makes it easy for students to collaborate with instructors and fellow students on individual or group assignments. Some of the benefits of this integration are:

  • Single sign-on from within Canvas
  • Use the course content you’ve already created from the rich content editor
  • Create cloud assignments with Google Docs
  • Collaborate with Google Drive.

MSU students already have an MSU Google Drive, that uses their and NetPassword. MSU teaching faculty can now request an MSU Google Account. It will also use and NetPassword.

Requesting a Google Account

1. Log in to myState at

2. Click the menu icon (3 bars) in the top left, then click Classroom.

3. In the far right corner, click Request Google Account. Once this has been selected, your account will be set for creation.

4. Your account status will show as Your Google Drive Account is Pending, while the account is being created.

5. Once the account is available to use, you will see a hyperlink to Access your Google Drive.
